My Story
RAW NATURE: Behind The Scenes – My Story
It is my intent with this blog to give you all a small glimpse into my life as an emerging professional conservation nature photographer…
I guess my story should start at the beginning like you might expect! But no, for me, I’m not going to bore you with the last 15 plus years of my life, toiling away as a wannabe professional wildlife photographer.
For me the beginning was last summer, the trip which changed everything!
As you can probably tell already, jellyfish had a big part to play in my awakening. Yet, I’ll take you back a little bit further than this, you see to understand what was the change in me, you would need to understand some of the events that had led me to this point…
I had been an on-call firefighter for almosts 11 years, unfortunately a battle with mental health led to me walking away from the job that had been a dream of mine since I was a child. I found that I was left without a purpose, I was left to ponder what my meaning was and what I was meant to do, yet without direction I started to drift…
It was by chance a conversation that I was fortunate enough to initiate with Dr Cal Major, on Instagram. I had been gifted a skydiving voucher, after leaving my prior supermarket job for many years. It had always been ingrained in me to challenge my fears and this was the outcome!
I had reached out to Cal, with the intent of asking her for advice on eco-charities that I could support for my skydive, you see there was no way, I would be jumping out of a plane for no reason!
It was during this conversation that Cal spoke to me of her intent to start up a charity of her own, this would go on to become Seaful Charity…
I feel I have taken up enough of your time with this first post, I hope that you have enjoyed my story so far, please do come back for more, my story is just beginning…
